பொருள்: பொருள் இல்லாதவரை (வேறு நன்மை உடையவராக இருந்தாலும்) எல்லாரும் இகழ்வார், செல்வரை (வேறு நன்மை இல்லாவிட்டாலும்) எல்லாரும் சிறப்பு செய்வர்.

The have-nothing poor all despise
The men of wealth all raise and praise.

English Meaning: All despise the poor; (but) all praise the rich.
