Pari's Chariot for the Jasmine

Pāri was the king of a small region called Parambu Nadu. Parambu Malai, his kingdom, was rich in natural beauty, covered with dense trees, clusters of jackfruit trees laden with fruits, honeycombs, blooming flowers, and clear streams that added charm to the hills. In this beautiful Parambu Malai, Pāri lived in a modest palace. He was renowned for his valor, noble character, and, most importantly, his generosity. Whenever poets approached him, he showered them with food, clothes, and wealth. These poets celebrated Pāri's generosity and virtues in their songs.

One day, as Pāri was traveling through the forest in his chariot, he noticed a jasmine creeper swaying in the wind, struggling without any support. Pāri's compassionate heart could not bear to see this. He immediately ordered his chariot to stop, unfastened the horses, and brought the chariot close to the jasmine creeper. He carefully allowed the creeper to climb and cling to the chariot.

This small act of kindness brought great peace to Pāri's heart. Hearing about this, the people were astonished by his generosity. They built a small shelter near the jasmine creeper to protect it.

This simple yet profound gesture reflected Pāri's large-heartedness. From that day, people revered him as the "Vallal who gave his chariot to the jasmine creeper." His name remains etched in the hearts of Tamil people even today.
